Surviving The Summer Heat – Indoors

Surviving the Summer Heat Indoors! Get ready because we are going to share some ways you can enjoy the summer inside.

Summertime is always a time for the beach, barbecues and outdoor fun.  For many of us, it’s often our favorite time of  year – especially after surviving those cold winter months.  But, let’s talk about that heat.  When July and August hit, the humidity and heat are in full-force and it’s almost unbearable to be outside.  As soon as we take one step out the door, we literally feel like we’re going to melt and being outside isn’t quite as nice anymore.  So, that’s when it’s time to take the summer fun – inside.

Yes, Cato is all about fashion, accessories and jewelry.  And, we of course love chatting about all those things, too.  But, behind the Cato brand are people just like you – people who love fashion, shopping, summer . . . and well, are now just trying to get through these hot summer days.  So, with that said, we wanted to share some ways you can enjoy the summer inside, by doing things that just make you feel good – inside and out.  When the heat is on, it’s the perfect time to take a break from all of those outdoor summer activities and focus on feeling “cool”, confident and emotionally energized.

Movie Day. Photos from some of our "must-sees" like; 'The Devil Wears Prada,' 'Under the Tuscan Sun,' 'Steel Magnolias,' 'Gentleman Prefer Blondes,' ' Breakfast at Tiffany's,' and 'Now and Then.'

Movie days are always relaxing and enjoyable days, especially when it’s feeling, hot, hot, hot, outside.  Movies that give you that warm and fuzzy feeling, while leaving you with a  sense of empowerment, are always great choices.  And since we are all passionate about fashion, movies with inspirational style are also on the top of our movie radar.   We’ve collected a list of some of our staff favorites we wanted to share.  Just click on the link for more information to see if it’s something you may want to add to your, “must-see” list this summer.

Book Escape. Photos from some of our "must-reads" like; 'Confessions of a Shopaholic by: Sophia Kinsella,' 'Wild by: Cheryl Strayed,' 'Motherhood: A Novel by Shelia Heti,' 'When Life Gives You Lululemons by: Lauren Weisberger,' ' The Favorite Sister,' and 'Eat, Pray, Love.'

Let’s face it.  Books are a great way to relax and escape from the everyday stresses of life.  When you need a break from reality, a good book is sometimes the best therapy.  Here are some books that may be thought provoking, mysterious or just an overall, good read.

Cute and Cozy. Photos from some of our soft and stretchy athleisure clothes like our 'Choose Happy Athleisure Top' and our 'Cropped French Terry Pants'

When the weather is calling for indoor fun – soft, stretchy clothes that are easy and comfy to move in, are definitely what your day is calling for.  We have athleisure and other great choices that are ideal for that R&R kind of day – and some just happen to make you feel good, just by what they say.

DIY Indoor Spa. Photos of spa componets like sugar scrub, face masks and nail polish.

Why spend money going to the spa, when you can bring your own spa, indoors.  There are some great bloggers out there that have shared some DIY recipes that are simple to do and work – too!  It’s all about sharing the love – which is what we are about to do.

Eat, Drink and Stay cool. Photos of cool beverages and cute mugs.

Water is always important to drink, but sometimes it can get a little boring to drink, too.  There are lots of good fruit infused recipes out there, as well as some refreshing alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to sip on.  Grab yourself one of our pretty water bottle tumblers, and keep yourself hydrated throughout the day.

Get creative. Photos of paper and pencil, laptop and art crafts.

The best thing to do on a really hot summer day is to stay indoors doing things that help you become the best version of, YOU.  Whether you take a nap, enjoy a good book or take that DIY Pinterest idea you pinned and make it into a reality . . . it’s up to you.  Just take time for yourself and make the moment yours.  What’s your favorite “to-do” on a hot summer day?  Share your thoughts – you never know who could benefit from an idea you share!
